A "STUPENDOUS" CERVOGIA
Stupor mundi (Wonder of the World), together with Puer Apuliae (the Boy of the South), be one of the most renowned nicknames of Emperor Frederick II of Swabia (1194-1250). We know not whether such an epithet was used by his contemporaries, though ’tis not hard to imagine it, given the vast impact his figure had upon them.
The term is owed to a chronicler of the mid-13th century, the English Benedictine monk Matthew Paris, who used it in his Cronica maiora:
Taking inspiration from it, Feudalesimo e Libertà hath brought forth the production of the Stupor Mundi Craft Beer. It is an Italian Pilsner, a light and refreshing lager with an elegant herbaceous aroma and a golden straw-yellow colour. The beer label pays homage to the Swabian sovereign, portraying him together with his faithful hunting falcon.
